Mustafa Ali and Ciampa competed in a one-on-one match on last night’s episode of WWE Monday Night RAW, with the stipulation that if Ali defeated Ciampa, he would get a future championship opportunity at the WWE United States Champion Theory. Due to WWE United States Champion Theory interfering in the match and hitting him from behind, Mustafa Ali would win by DQ over Ciampa.
The WWE United States Champion Theory then stomped on Ali even more, telling him that he had no choice but to accept his championship shot for last night’s show and not at a later date. The match did take happen, and Theory was able to retain his WWE United States Championship by hitting Ali with his ATL finisher and getting the 1-2-3. WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon was so delighted by Theory’s antics of having an injured Ali compete in a title battle that he wants to see Theory defend his title in a fair fight against Ali at WWE Hell In A Cell, according to WWE official Adam Pearce.
This will be Theory’s second TV championship defence since winning the title from Finn Balor on the April 18th episode of RAW. His first title defence was on the May 9th episode of RAW, where he was defeated by “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes via DQ.
WWE would later confirm the WWE United States Title Match between Mustafa Ali and Theory for WWE Hell In a Cell later in the evening. Later in the programme, Mustafa Ali was questioned backstage by Kevin Patrick, and he promised that he would depart Chicago, Illinois with the WWE United States Title, but he was attacked again by WWE United States Champion Theory.
On Sunday, June 5, 2022, the WWE Hell In A Cell Premium Live Event will take place inside the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, near Chicago.
