Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful stated this evening that Joe is no longer with the company. His departure appears to be the latest in a series of personnel changes at WWE NXT and the WWE Performance Center this week.
Joe had recently been working behind-the-scenes in NXT as a coach, assisting with recent tryout camps. He last wrestled on the main roster in February 2020, and while recovering from injuries, he was moved to the RAW commentary table. On April 12, 2021, Joe was fired from RAW commentary, and on April 15, he was released. In June of last year, Triple H brought him back as an enforcer for former NXT General Manager William Regal, who was also dismissed last week. Joe had a feud with Karrion Kross and won the NXT Championship at Takeover 36. Due to an unexplained injury, he was forced to resign the championship on September 12 and has been working behind the scenes ever since.
