Angle was recently rumoured to be in talks with WWE about returning to television in an on-screen position, and there was anticipation that he would make his return at the Royal Rumble, but he did not appear. Now, on his most recent podcast edition, Angle said that WWE has approached him about returning to television “for the next month or two.”
When Paul Bromwell, co-host of “The Kurt Angle Show,” asked him about a phone call he received last week, Angle revealed the news.
“Yes, I did [get a phone call from the WWE],” Angle confirmed. “And they want me to be a part of the show for around a month.” And I’m really looking forward to it. So, we’ll see what the future holds for me.”
The podcast episode was recorded before The Rumble and released on Sunday. Angle was brought to the huge event in St. Louis by WWE, but he was never used. While in town, Angle reportedly shot programming for Peacock/WWE Network, including an edition of Table For 3.
Angle hasn’t wrestled since losing his WrestleMania 35 retirement match to Happy Baron Corbin in 2019. After thereafter, Angle made a few special appearances on television and worked as a WWE Producer for a few months before being fired on April 15, 2020.
