After an attack, Edge was carried off on a stretcher in the post-match view.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the stretcher angle was created to explain Edge’s absence from the ring for a few months.
Following last week’s incident, WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix said during Tuesday’s commentary on WWE NXT 2.0 that Edge was back at home and resting with his family. WWE did not give a formal narrative injury update after Beth’s words were posted on their main feed.
Edge was supposed to be on his way to RAW earlier this summer, however this was based on a WWE Shop page that showed him as a red brand member, which was never updated when he returned to SmackDown. There’s no news yet on what WWE has in store for Edge’s future, but we’ll keep you informed.
