Beth Phoenix, WWE Hall of Famer was the latest speaker to discuss a range of topics at Renee Paquette’s Oral Podcast.
While there, she talked about her husband, Edge, who was retired because of neck injury in 2019.
“A small portion of it is shown in the documentary. On the screen, what you see is 2%. He’s been putting in years and years of effort, essentially since 2018, to prepare himself physically and emotionally ready to achieve this. It’s been jarring for me as a wife. It’s been difficult because for almost a decade I’ve been trying to wrap my head around the fact that if he gets in a vehicle accident, he could die. He could die if he falls the wrong way. All of these things were communicated to us, and I was afraid for Adam to be in such a terrible circumstance.
Even mountain riding made me apprehensive and uneasy. I adore him and would never wish anything bad on him. Then he starts thinking about wrestling, and I’m like, ‘Are you crazy?’ Instead of seeing Dr. Maroon, we should see a psychiatrist.’ He simply knew himself and his body better than I did. ‘There are two things I need to observe before any of this can happen,’ I explained. I’m speaking as your wife, and I’m going to say no since we have two children. First, I need to see it with my own eyes, and then I need to hear it from the greatest in the world. I need confirmation from our team that you will be fine. It’s something I have to see. To be convinced that this is real, I need to watch you move around and observe it with my own eyes. ‘What can I do now that he’s done both?’
